After relocating to NYC in 1996, Fearless guitarist Scott Denett introduced Ry to Alan Zahn, co-owner of jingle house (ad music company) Red House Music with Lloyd Landesman, writer of the major 80s jingles “Proud To Be Your Bud” (sung by Michael Bolton) and “Sweet Dreams You Can’t Resist, N-E-S-T-L-E-S” (often covered in concert by ‘90s Rock band Faith No More). Ry became a staff writer at Red House, scoring a win with his first jingle, a sixty-second speed metal radio song for Sprite’s “Obey Your Thirst” campaign, featuring legendary guitarist Eddie Martinez (Robert Palmer). Ry went on to win national awards for his music and lyrics for branding and advertising campaigns while living in New York City, and then continued doing so after relocating to Austin, Texas in 2001. In NYC, Ry scored his first short, and in Austin his second.
In Los Angeles, Ry connected with fellow New England Conservatory alumni Sean Callery and became assistant on his shows “24” and “Medium”, which Sean was currently both scoring. The experience, along with the work created, led Ry to secure a credited position on the scoring team for the series “Power Rangers” (recently acquired by Disney), and Ry composed a large portion of the music for the 2007-2008 season “Operation Overdrive”, and the 2008-2009 season “Jungle Fury”. Ry also composed additional music for the feature “Shut Up and Shoot” alongside primary composer Ralph Reickermann, former bassist for German Rock group The Scorpions. Ry also scored the features “Mommy and Me”, a romantic comedy, and “Wonder Woman XXX: A Porn Parody” (
CC Productions)- the first (and best) of many Wonder Woman films in the Adult genre. Ry has also created sound design for and mixed feature-length and short films, as well as for television programming and advertising.
